I am my worst enemy. [example of personalization and blame]

I don’t get the traps of ‘emotional reasoning’ , ’should’ and ‘must’ statements. elaborate?
psych students will start thinking that they’re neurotic. med students will become hypochondriacs.
from what i remember, emotional reasoning is when you rationalize your emotions…like for example, if you broke up with your boyfriend because he cheated on you, you might feel bad and reason that you feel bad because you are in fact, a bad person and that’s the reason your bf broke up with you. (not that fact that he cheated on you).
Should and must statements are when you say things like “i SHOULD be at the university level for english, but I’m not, so thus i MUST be stupid.” i think it’s something like that…i’ll hafta check my notes.
