Bits and pieces of knowledge. I’ve grown up in the church my whole life and have heard countless sermons, attended many bible studies…I feel like I can recognize a number of bible verses…”Oh I’ve heard that before”. But a lot of it just floats around in a disordered manner in my head. =/ Bits and pieces.

I really want to KNOW God and His word. Like, where a verse comes from, the context in which the author spoke those words… I want to be able to understand the history behind the Israelites and…yeah you know. I want to know where Galilee is on the map. More importantly, I want to know more about God’s character. It’s like getting to know a friend, the more time you spend with him, the better you know what he likes, dislikes… I want to get to know God to the point that from what the bible tells me and from Jesus’ example, I’ll just know what to do in certain situations. Of course there will be exceptions..but generally, I think this is the right “attitude”.

Lately, I’ve been reading 1 John…It’s such a good book!!! I like how the author (I think it’s John, but I’m not sure) addresses his book to “my dear children, because your sins have been forgiven because of Jesus” and “to you who are mature because you know Christ, the one who is from the beginning.” It feels very personal…like he’s speaking to me.

I feel like I’ve been a believer of Jesus for a long time, but a follower for only a short time.

Anyways…

“Dear children, keep away from anything that might take God’s place in your hearts.”
1 John 5:21

Get Up - Superchic

I’m not afraid to fall
It means I climbed up high
To fall is not to fail
You fail when you don’t try
I’m not afraid to fall
I might just learn to fly
And I will spread these wings of mine.

If I get up, I might fall back down again
So let’s get up, c’mon
If I get up, I might fall back down again
We get up anyway
If I get up, I might fall back down again
So let’s get up, c’mon
If I get up, I might fall back down again
And I might fall back down again
And well, just jump and see
Even if it’s the twentieth time
We’ll just jump and see if we can fly.

I’m not afraid to fall
And hear I told you so
Don’t want to rock the boat
But I just had to know
Just a greener side
Or can I touch the sky
But either way I will try.

If I get up, I might fall back down again
So let’s get up, c’mon
If I get up, I might fall back down again
We get up anyway
If I get up, I might fall back down again
So let’s get up, c’mon
If I get up, I might fall back down again
And I might fall back down again
And well, just jump and see
Even if it’s the thirtieth time
We’ll just jump and see if we can fly.

I’m not afraid to fall
I’ve fallen many times
They laughed when I fell down
But I dared to climb
I’m not afraid to fall
I know I’ll fall again
But I can win this in the end.

If I get up, I might fall back down again
So let’s get up, c’mon
If I get up, I might fall back down again
We get up anyway
If I get up, I might fall back down again
So let’s get up, c’mon
If I get up, I might fall back down again
And I might fall back down again
And well, just jump and see
Even if it’s the fortieth time
We’ll just jump and see if we can fly.

If I get up, I might fall back down again
So let’s get up, c’mon
If I get up, I might fall back down again
We get up anyway
If I get up, I might fall back down again
So let’s get up, c’mon
If I get up, I might fall back down again
And I might fall back down again.

The Glass Menagerie

by Tennessee Williams

LAURA: Little articles of [glass], they’re ornaments mostly! Most of them are little animals made out of glass, the tiniest little animals in the world. Mother calls them a glass menagerie! Here’s an example of one, if you’d like to see it! . . . Oh, be careful—if you breathe, it breaks! . . . You see how the light shines through him?
JIM: It sure does shine!
LAURA: I shouldn’t be partial, but he is my favorite one.
JIM: What kind of a thing is this one supposed to be?
LAURA: Haven’t you noticed the single horn on his forehead?
JIM: A unicorn, huh? —aren’t they extinct in the modern world?
LAURA: I know!
JIM: Poor little fellow, he must feel sort of lonesome.

I really liked this play.

The Sabbath-Breaker Put to Death

While the Israelites were in the desert, a man was found gathering wood on the Sabbath day. Those who found him gathering wood brought him to Moses and Aaron and the whole assembly, and they kept him in custody, because it was not clear what should be done to him. Then the LORD said to Moses, “The man must die. The whole assembly must stone him outside the camp.” So the assembly took him outside the camp and stoned him to death, as the LORD commanded Moses.
