…play softball this summer?

Plans for summer thus far:
-Work
-Biology of Aging (DE)
-RELAX
-Aletheia/SG
-Where should I serve/grow?
-Swimming lessons?
Hmm….
thinking about the summer is distracting.
There is nothing we can do to make God love us more; there is nothing we can do to make God love us less.

Currently I’m in the middle of writing a paper on the impact on intimate partner violence on women’s HIV treatment in Zambia. Reading about HIV/AIDS in Subsaharan Africa makes me wonder about how important my “problems” are in the grand scheme of things. If we’re talking about Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, people in Africa don’t even have physical needs (food, water, shelter), and security needs… Never mind the self-esteem and self-actualization needs. Did you know that the life expectancy in Zambia is 40 years?
Anyways, I think one day I would really like to travel and see the world. Instead of just reading about it…
This song came to mind when I read about women in poverty, turning to prostitution to feed themselves and their children.. I’m not sure if the same exact situation occurs in Africa, but I smell the same desperation..
What would you do if you son was at home,
crying all alone on the bedroom floor cuz he’s hungry
and the only way to feed him is to
sleep with a man for a little bit a money
and his daddy’s gone
somewhere smokin’ rock now
in and out of lock down
I ain’t got a job now
so for you this is just a good time
but for me this is what I call life
