Went to church at “The Vine HK” today…bumped into more people I knew than I would’ve expected to. Being at the Vine was an interesting experience…For a moment I thought I was back in Canada because there were White and black and brown people (and of course yellow!) Because I’m a visitor, I can’t really put my foot down on the spiritual temperature of the church – I guess it’s true that you should try everything twice before you make up your mind.
Was planning on shopping at Mong Kok today, but then my friends cancelled because one of them caught the flu (hopefully not the Swine flu..). So I followed BHMV + J + R to eat Viet food near LKF. It was pretty standard food. I haven’t had anything really spectacular in HK yet, except maybe the lunch yesterday with my aunt and uncle. That was pretty good. I still need to eat some really authentic HK food…except I don’t know where to go and neither do my friends:(
After lunch we took the Peak Tram up to the tallest point of HK. It was an okay view:P I mean, HK is definitely a crazy city with all its tall buildings/skyscrapers. As well, I think I’m usually more amazed when I see nature (ie: mountains and water), and not as amazed at tall buildings. The breathtaking-ness of the view was sorta ruined by the thick smog that covers over the city. Today was definitely not a good day for those who have asthma.
Dinner was at a fancy schmancy restaurant near the peak. We totally got jipped, but I guess it was expected, seeing as we were at such a popular tourist location.
Tomorrow I hope to get some shopping in – it’s been 3 full days without any real shopping. Kinda a bummer considering the main things you can do in HK are eat and shop.

hey! sounds fun in hk =) and yah…my chinese got sooo made fun of by this little ten year old kid..my friend’s cousin..who stayed over at our house a couple summers ago. I think its partly the fact that the chinese we learned from our parents and that people speak here actually isn’t the same as the chinese that’s evolved in hk. you know…linguistics and everything..language evolves
and we keep assuming that it’s the same but I’m pretty sure it isn’t.
anyways, hope you have lots of fun!!! shopping and eating and not getting destroyed by smog. whee!
how can you NOT have gone shopping yet!? AHHH! you need to go to that women’s market where you can BARGAIN and get REALLY CHEAP stuff! i bought 2 korean soaps there! hhah… lots of fun! when i went up the mountain (on the peak tram), it was super foggy too.. but it was sooooo pretty!
did you eat the mango things yet? and you gotta eat those noodle roll things! “pig-long-noodle” (literal translation) IT”S GOOD STUFF!
