City girl

So it’s been a bit two weeks since I moved downtown (temporarily) to live at my classmate’s place in Kensington Market. Her two housemates left early March for a two-month placement, and since she didn’t want to live alone, she invited me to stay with her (FOR FREE!!)

It has been an absolutely AWESOME experience. Not only is my commute cut down from 1.5 hours of subwaying (with 3 transfers) to 15 minutes of walking, but I get to experience Kensington Market and all its fun-ness. Last week the weather was absolutely gorgeous and KM was hustling and bustling with people on the streets. I love how you buy your meat, your (FRESH BAKED) bread, your seafood in different little shops. Also, there are lots of cool places to eat for decent prices! And Chinatown is just around the corner, so veggies and everything is just so cheap! Anyways, it’s too bad I can’t actually afford to live downtown. I’m gonna try and maximize on the experience of being a real city girl while I can.

Anyways, here are some pics to let you in my walk to school!

How I’m staying warm this winter

So the great thing about living at Bdiv is that heating is centralized throughout the building [ insert sarcasm].

If it wasn’t for my Presto HeatDish I would be freezing my butt off. Everytime I go to the washroom or the kitchen to grab a snack, it feels a good 10 degrees colder than it is in my room. This uber-light space heater is not only 3 times more powerful than 1500 watt heaters, but it’s also 3 times more efficient! I especially like how it’s not noisy like traditional space heaters that spit out warm air. It doesn’t take forever to warm up the room and it doesn’t dry up the room as much.

Today, I finally bought a new pair of winter boots. I’ve worn the old pair for 3 winters now, and it was time for them to retire. The sides of the boots were cracked in such a way that snow would seep through. I was also told that “no one wears those boots anymore” and I guess it’s sorta true. I did really like them though.

So here are the new boots (well, one of them). They’re “Bear Paws”…aka wanna-be-Uggs, but that’s cool with me. The inside of the boot feels like a furry slipper or furry carpet/rug and they’re really warm. It’s lined with sheepskin and the upper part is suede.

Thanks daddy:)

Impulsive Shopping

I don’t think I’d consider myself a impulsive shopper (does anyone disagree?).  Lately, I’ve also been inspired to try to spend as little as possible, after reading an interesting article for my English 109 course.

However, I was unable to resist a sale going on at SLC today and I bought myself a spiffy looking Swiss Army duffle bag.  It looks like this:

However, it’s in baby blue.  It was $25!!!! Well, you can ask me if I have need for such a duffle bag?  FOR SURE!  The ones my mom bought are of really cheap quality.  This one has tons of pockets/compartments and the wheels are so smooth on the ground:P  I decided $25 was a good investment into something so practical :)
